Sweet Tea to take Zim Classic

-

Sadly only four fillies will contest Zimbabwe’s version of the Fillies Classic over 1600m for threeyear-old fillies at Borrowdale on Sunday.

Carded as Race 6, scheduled to be off at 3.45pm, the race features only two entries each from the Bridget Stidolph and Kirk Swanson stables.

Sweet Tea (Brandon McNaughton) heads the ratings by just one point and has the advantage of having seen the turn before, but Wild Imogen (Sherman Brown) looked quite decent when winning her second start two weeks ago and may be the filly to beat here.

Race 1 at Borrowdale is due off at 12.50 with six maidens contest a 1260m event. It would appear recent import Bomber Pilot (Ryan Munger) will have his supporters. However watch In The Mood (Brown) a daughter of Bold Silvano who makes her debut for the Swanson yard. Blue Label (McNaughton) is expected to complete the Trifecta.

Butchie Boy (Calvin Habib) is the highest rated horse in Race 2 – a Graduation Plate over 1200m but Jameson Run is the likely danger while Shepparton warrants respect and should be included with Roberta’s Passion.

Pirate Hunter (Herholdt) was just touched off in his last start and is sure to go one better in this poor six horse Maiden 1900 – Race 3 on the card, and expect Tremendous (Fanie Chambers) to improve on his Zimbabwe debut.

Kirk Swanson holds a strong hand in Race 4 – a MR 55 Handicap over 1700m. His lightly raced three-year-old What a Dandy (Herholdt) looks a decent sort and although he tries the turn and a trip for the first time, should go close.

Gasoline (Hennie Greyling) makes his Zimbabwe debut in Race 5 a MR 75 1600m event and should fight out the finish with stable his companion David’s Flower (McNaughton) who heads the handicap. Cool Solution (Brown) is dropping steadily in the ratings and should be competitive again with Lava Flow (Munger) who has dropped in class.
