Tembo’s philosophy at odds with Tinkler’s

Long-serving SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo (right) has likened himself to a politician who submits to the authorities and goes wherever he is deployed.
The 47-year-old has been called on again to take charge of Matsatsantsa on an interim basis after Eric Tinkler’s resignation.
Tembo found himself in a similar position last year when Stuart Baxter dumped United for the national team.
“I’m like a cadre, I am told where to go,” he said
“Last season I did the same thing, for me what comes first is the team. The club makes the decisions and I am always there whenever I am needed to play my part, that is the most important thing for me,” he added.
Before Tinkler left the club, he made it clear that Matsatsantsa were not going to go all out in the Caf Confederation Cup like they did last year when they reached the final.
Tembo seems to be singing from a different hymn book.
“We are going to put the same amount of effort in that as we did last season and we will put out our strongest team available, which means we value each and every player that we have in the team,” he said.
“We are going all out, our attitude is that we want to do well and make the country proud and it is a nice feeling getting into the final and we want to do it again,” he said as he is preparing Matsatsantsa for a clash with Angolan side Petro Atletico tonight.
