Time to weed out useless cabinet ministers

We need to employ honest, hard-working people capable of governing this country, writes Realist.

I’m sure most South Africans are sick and tired of seeing, hearing and reading about politicians. Most of our politicians can’t run a country as sophisticated as South Africa. The majority of them, from all parties, are nothing more than windbags. They talk and talk and never get anything done.

However, it is not their fault. It’s our fault we employed them in the first place and this has led to the country being in its current pathetic state, insolvent!

Money is, unfortunately, a necessity in this modern world. Without it a country has no schools, education, hospitals, infrastructure, employment, no future. Its people are destined to misery and conflict.

So it’s time to employ people who are capable of governing the country and time to remove the others. South African Airways, Eskom, Transnet, and not to forget, Sassa and our Post Office, better known as “snail mail”, are not run well. But we employed them.

The British unemployment rate is about 4% and South Africa’s about 28%. The British GDP is about nine times larger than South Africa’s, however Britain has 23 cabinet ministers and we have 37 cabinet ministers and 32 deputy ministers.

We need a lean government that knows how to govern and to keep their paws out of the day-today running of our economy.

So for the next election: First, all the candidates must have a proven, crime free record. Secondly, they must have an education qualification equal to the job to be done. Thirdly, each party, before we accept them, must agree to no more than 20 cabinet ministers.
