Teetan could nab Hong Kong Police Cup

The Police Cup, Race 6, is the feature event on the Happy Valley card this week and Karis Teetan has an excellent chance to land the prize with the Tony Cruz-trained Double Valentine.

It may be a bold call given this colt is still yet to hit the frame from 12 Hong Kong starts, but his effort in defeat the last time he ventured to the city course was full of merit.

That run was over 1 000m when he was just getting warmed up late in the race. He subsequently failed at Sha Tin over the same distance, but wasn't on the best part of the track and it was a run that could be excused.

He is nicely drawn in gate one and providing he can make the most of the good barrier, then should take some beating in a very weak race.

Considering his overall record is poor, he should be Eachway odds and against some rather weak opposition, looks to have a very good chance to open his account and justify backing him.

David Ferraris’ Raichu has proven a model of consistency this season, without winning, but Teetan gets aboard this fellow in the opening event and this might be his chance to notch his first win and shrug his maiden status.

Raichu was ridden by Derek Leung on his last outing and it appears Teetan has picked up the ride this time because Leung has opted to ride the main danger, Scarborough Fair.

In any case, these two gallopers stand out based on their recent form and perhaps the best option might be to play an Exacta, both ways.

And, if looking to play a Trifecta or Quartet then it is definitely worth including Dougie Whyte’s Catchmeifyoucan who is likely to start around 20-1.

The final event one the card might be a good race to tackle in the form of a Trifecta, with High Volatility making plenty appeal as the roving banker.

Circuit Glory ran a much-improved race on his first start for John Moore and up to 1600m is a clear positive based on his pedigree. Litterateur is an obvious inclusion, with Beauty Trust and Ten Flames making the appeal as good value chances.
