Humble, chilled Storm

TALENTED: POP STAR ATTRACTING AUDIENCE ON INTERNATIONAL STAGE

-

This feels like a dream I just do not want to wake up from, says 19-year-old.

Local singer Storm first burst onto the South African music scene at age 16 with his debut single Keep Calm, which shot to number one. Far from a one-hitwonder, the 19-year-old repeated that with Rhythm & You, which not only topped the local charts, but received radio play in countries like Australia, Canada, the US, UK, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, receiving a rating of 10 out of 10.

Storm continues to attract international interest with Can You Feel It. With this latest single, he has made it onto the musicworx charts within a week of its release. Musicworx is compiled based on the votes from international DJs.

Can You Feel It was penned by Storm and Prime Circle’s Dale Schnettler and it was remixed by Stonebridge, who previously produced Madonna, Missy Elliot and Damien Hall.

Last year, Storm composed, wrote and recorded the new anthem for hunger relief nonprofit group Rise Against Hunger.

Storm said: “I’m incredibly excited about what Can You Feel It is already doing internationally and personally believe this might be my best single to date.

“As I’m from South Africa, I can’t wait to see how local music fans will react to the song, but hope with all my heart that they’ll love it as much as I do.”

He says that the message behind the upbeat, happy song is about “the fact that you’re not alone in this world” and “that you should believe that your dreams are going to come true”.

On his success on the international stage, he said: “This feels like a dream I just don’t want to wake up from.”

He describes himself as “humble, loving, chilled” and someone who “really comes alive on stage”.

His parents admit they do not know where their son got his talents from as neither are musically inclined. “But they tell me that from the time I could walk and speak, I would dance and memorise the words to my favourite songs as they were playing over the radio.

“I’m incredibly fortunate to have the most supportive parents. They allowed me to follow my dreams.” – storminafrica.com
