Celebrate Morris Minor’s 70th in style

-

People who like old vehicles and steamy Sundays should pay attention. The Gauteng Morris Minor Owners’ Club, Friends of the Rail organisation and Cullinan Business community will offer you an outing with a real difference this Sunday.

The Cullinan Minor Steam Run will be a trip between Pretoria and Cullinan, on board either a restored old passenger steam train or your own classic car/motorcycle. The event will centre around the 70th anniversary of the Morris Minor, and the organisers expect a healthy number of the small British cars to participate. Everybody involved is invited to meet at the Hermanstad Station, corner Michaelson and Kruger streets, Hermanstad, in Pretoria, between 7am and 7.30am on Sunday.

For those taking the train, secure parking will be available at the station. Those in classic cars will closely follow the train through the tree lined suburbs of Pretoria, down memory lane to the old diamond village of Cullinan. Once there, you can visit the village attractions and wander through the classic car show.

You can take your own lunch and picnic in a relaxed village park. Takeaways will also be available, or you can enjoy lunch in a quaint restaurant or hotel.

The optional dress code will be the Great Gatsby, and prizes to be won during the day will include diamonds, helicopter flights and tours of the mine.
