Ajax’s target is five more points

Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral (pictured) believes five points from his side’s last three league games of the season should be enough to avoid a spot in the relegation play-offs.

The Urban Warriors host Baroka FC at Athlone Stadium this evening, with Ertugral’s side in 15th position, a point behind SuperSport United.

After Baroka, Ajax must travel to champions-in-waiting Mamelodi Sundowns before finishing their season at home to Kaizer Chiefs.

“Five points should be okay, but you never know, the other ones can also win their games,” said Ertugral yesterday.

Ajax’s home form is excellent and victory over Baroka would give them a third straight league win at Athlone Stadium, and a fourth straight league win in all, after they also thumped Orlando Pirates 3-0 at Cape Town Stadium on January 31.

Ajax continue to be without striker Tendai Ndoro, with the club still in the courts fighting over his playing status. Ajax were the third club Ndoro has played for this season, when under Fifa rules you are only supposed to take the field for two.

Ertugral is not concerned, however, that Ajax could be docked points for the games Ndoro has already played in.

“This is definitely not going to happen, I don’t worry about that,” added the Ajax coach.
