Live Life with a bet on Wonderland

- Jack Milner

Scottsville will be staging their major sprint raceday on 26 May with four Grade 1 races, all over 1200m.

On Sunday bettors will be able to get a look-in at many of the contenders in four feature races over 1100m.

The most interesting is the Grade 3 Poinsettia Stakes in which Candice Bass-Robinson has entered her leading two sprinting fillies, Live Life and three-year-old Magical Wonderland.

Also in the field is Vaughan Marshall-trained The Secret Is Out and if they are all fit and well should fight it out. The problem is the Bass-Robinson duo have not been out since finishing third in their respective races on Sun Met Day in January.

Of the pair preference is slightly for Magical Wonderland because she has more room for improvement. In her last start she finished a two-length third behind talented stable companion Dutch Philip in the $500,000 CTS 1200m. Prior to that she beat some good fillies to win the Grade 2 Sceptre Stakes, over 1200m at Kenilworth.

Having said that, Live Life ran a cracker when running on best of all to finish a 1.45-length third behind Sergeant Hardy in the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship over 1000m. She also will enjoy the extra 200m and cannot be ruled out.

The Secret Is Out has not run in an official race for 200 days. However, she did participate in a barrier trial over 1000m at Greyville and did not perform badly to finish 1.20 lengths behind Drageda. That run should have brought her on and she should be competitive.

The colts and geldings make their appearance in the Listed In Full Flight Handicap and that event looks wide open. Narrow preference is for Hack Green

There is racing at Greyville on the Polytrack tomorrow evening and Suzi Woo looks the runner to beat in Race 3, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m.

?? ?? TALENTED. Live Life has done her owners proud and the four-year-old filly looks the main threat to stablemate Magical Wonderland in Sunday’s Grade 3 Poinsettia Stakes over 1100m at Scottsville.
