Kaizer Chiefs reserve team captain Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (left) says it is very important for him to play well in the reserve team so that he can fit in well in the senior team should they require his services.
The young Amakhosi skipper, who is also a South African Under-20 international, has done well with his Chiefs teammates in the inaugural MultiChoice Diski Shield competition where they have reached the final. They face Mamelodi Sundowns at the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday.
“You never know when an opportunity might come, so I will continue working hard and make sure I give my best performance so that I am ready when the senior team want me,” said the 18-year old midfielder.
During the semifinal, Chiefs were led by former goalkeeper Brian Baloyi in the absence of Arthur Zwane, who is on senior team duty, and they reached the final after beating Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium last weekend, while Sundowns edged Golden Arrows 1-0 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Sundowns coach David Notoane will be hoping his key player Keletso Makgalwa will be available for the final. The pacey forward has not played much in the MDC team after being promoted to the first team. But Notoane said his absence has not really created a void, though his impact could be vital.
