Seattle Mermaid could set Greeff off on a good day at Fairview

Followers of champion trainer Alan Greeff could have a profitable time at Fairview today when he sends out some bright prospects on the card.

He should get his fans away to a flyer in Race 1 with Seattle Mermaid (Greg Cheyne) who contests a 1200m Maiden Juvenile Plate for fillies.

This filly, who has been unplaced only once in her four starts, was twice a runner-up – the last of which was in her most recent outing when stepping up the distance to 1200m.

With the experience gained she is unlikely to miss this time.

Her main rivals are Talk To Me, French Nobility, Domremy and Call Me Blue.

Jockey Charles Ndlovu could provide Greeff with a win in Race 2 when teamed up with Abramo in another Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1200m. This colt made steady progress in his first three outings, but there was much to like about his last run as he ran on to finish a close second over 1400m.

With Ndlovu retaining the ride the colt should be in the winner’s enclosure.

Cheyne will be aboard a strong Greeff runner in Tin Tan who contests Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1600m. This luckless filly, who has missed the frame only once in her seven starts with Cheyne up, comes off a good second when racing without blinkers. Best of the others are The Goon Show, Mr Hardy and Wemibono.

Greeff-trained Fools Garden, who won with complete authority over 1600m with Cheyne aboard last time, should be up to the task again when stepping out in Race 5, a MR 62 Handicap (F&M) over 1600m. The combination has a bright chance to complete the double, more so, with the advantage of the best draw.

Her main rival is stablemate Rendezvous. In with place claims are Equestris, Bushy Park and Russian Star.
