Bulls ready for pressure pot

The Stormers are certainly the team on the back foot in terms of Super Rugby log position and Bulls coach John Mitchell (above) said he wants to pile more pressure on them, especially in terms of being more patient on defence, when they clash in front of the demanding Newlands crowd today.

The Bulls have a game in hand on the Stormers and are already two points ahead of them on the log, so victory for the visitors will see the play-offs door closing even more on the Cape side.

“There’s greater expectation on them playing at home and it has certainly increased our motivation hearing that it’s impossible to win there. It will be about how we can create anxiety, put pressure on the opposition and there are ways we feel we can create pressure. Frustration leads to anxiety which can lead to other things” Mitchell said.

He added the time for learning is over at Loftus Versfeld; it was now time for the Bulls to deliver.

“You come to the point where you have to accept that it’s enough learning, the players now have the experience to cope with every situation. I think it’s enough now, we can stop learning,” Mitchell said.

Newlands – where the Bulls have not won in Super Rugby since 2011 – would be the ideal place to show that all those tough lessons have been absorbed.
