South African national Under-20 coach Thabo Senong says he is glad he has a couple of experienced players in his squad for the Caf 2019 Africa Youth Championships qualifiers match against Mozambique on May 12 at BeiraCampo de Ferroviario in Beira.
Senong has called up 28 players who will assemble for camp tomorrow, with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs midfield pair of Wiseman Meyiwa and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo in the team, as well as the Mamelodi Sundowns duo of defender Malebogo Modise and goalkeeper Khulegani Khubeka.
The four were part of the previous Under-20 squad that finished third at the last Afcon held in Zambia and qualified for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Korea.
“We have made a few changes from the training camp we recently had because some players are now available, and others are not available at this moment. Some of the overseas-based and local players are not able to honour this camp, which opens doors for others to impress,” he said.
The team will hold their camp in Nelspruit before travelling to Mozambique next week.
Mozambique head into this game after disposing of Seychelles 6-0, while Amajita had a bye. The second leg will take place on the weekend of May 19-20.
The winners will play the winners of the game between Angola and Malawi in July.
