On-pace runners could shine at Kranji

- Larry Foley

– The countdown to 26 May and three Group 1 races on one day is well and truly on, with four international invitations confirmed by the Singapore Turf Club this week.

SOUTHERN LEGEND and HORSE OF FORTUNE will represent Hong Kong in the Kranji Mile, while HERE COMES WHEN and OCEAN EMPEROR will represent the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

The running of the 3YO Guineas and the Lion City Cup on the same stand-alone Saturday makes it a night not to be missed, with star International jockeys - Zac Purton to name just one - adding to the excitement of what is the best Singapore meeting in 2018.

Today is also a standalone meeting and while there are no feature events on the nine-race card, some very competitive

fields suggest it will be a good one for punters.

And with the E Course again in use, on-pace runners will come to the fore in any form analysis and hopefully some bolters may provide value on the night.

HANGMAN in Race 9 could be one to watch and, while he has drawn the widest in gate 14, this four-year-old led with a mission last start when blinkers went on and happy to think he looks the winner at some stage over 1400m.

BAN THE DOUBT also looks a bolter in Race 2 and both horses will not only be value but can also add to Vlad Duric’s lead in the jockeys’ premiership.

Best Bets: (EASTIGER Race 4, Win), (BAN THE DOUBT Race 2, Win) and (HANGMAN Race 9, Value).

Jackpot (R360): Race 6 (3, 5, 6 and 8), Race 7 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10), Race 8 (3, 5 and 8), Race 9 (1, 3, 6, 11 and 12).
