Senong goes Dutch

-

Bafana Bafana assistant coach Thabo Senong is not with the squad at the Cosafa Cup in Polokwane because he is going to a coaching course in the Netherlands. This was confirmed by Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter. Molefi Ntseki, the Amajita coach, will be Baxter’s assistant coach in Polokwane instead of Senong. “Thabo is going, I think from the 4th (of June), and I think from the 1st he would not be available due to his studies … so we are taking Molefi, who has also been working well with the Under-17s,” said Baxter. Phakaaathi columnist Helman Mkhalele is also helping out in an advisory capacity with Bafana in Polokwane. Teko must play on, says Comitis

Teko Modise (above) is entering his last season with Cape Town City, but club chairman John Comitis is hoping to persuade the 35-year-old not to retire at the end of the 2018/19 season. When Modise joined City in July last year, he was intending to only play for two years before hanging up his boots. “What Teko gives us on the pitch is amazing. We want to keep him on the pitch all the time and you can see sometimes he plays 90 minutes and at his age that is phenomenal. Maybe we will look into that (extending his stay) because he is very important to us and he is happy,” Comitis told Phakaaathi. Manyisa’s life after football

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Oupa Manyisa (above) is already thinking about life after football with a source close to the player revealing to Phakaaathi that the midfielder has started a clothing range. Manyisa is selling caps, hoodies and T-shirts and according to the source, there is a high demand for his clothes. “A lot of people are contacting him through social media because they love the clothes, especially the hoodies. He started this because he wants to venture into the clothing business fully as soon as he hangs up his boots. He is very excited about the business,” said the source. Singh signs five-year deal

South African forward Luther Singh (above) , who is currently part of the Bafana Bafana squad at the Cosafa Cup in Polokwane, has been given a new contract by his Portugese side Sporting Braga and will be promoted to the first team squad next season. Singh, now 20, has played in Braga’s B team since joining in 2016 from Swedish side GAIS. This past season, he scored 11 goals in 35 appearances. Singh has signed a new five-year deal. “Luther Singh will join the first team with a view to the 2018/19 season,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
