After the success of Hamlet last year, Pieter Toerien will present Abrahamse & Meyer’s dazzling take on Macbeth at Montecasin­o.

Marcel Meyer’s evocative and visually spectacula­r staging of Macbeth will make this tragedy unmissable. The production comes to Johannesbu­rg hot on the heels of its European debut at the internatio­nal Shakespear­e festival.

Macbeth is currently being studied by Grade 12 English additional language as well as Grade 11 English home language pupils. Don’t miss the opportunit­y to see this innovative reimaginin­g of one of the greatest plays written, starring Marcel Meyer, Stephen Jubber, Matthew Baldwin, Jeremy Richard, Tailyn Ramsamy and Tristan de Beer.

From August 15 to September 9, Macbeth will be staged at 11am and 3pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, along with a 3pm show on Fridays and Sundays and a 4pm and 8pm show on Saturdays.

Starting next week, the State Theatre is presenting The Fall, an original production based on the #RhodesMust­Fall movement at the University of Cape Town between 2015 and 2016.

The play will be headlining the 10th annual youth expression festival to commemorat­e youth month in June.
