Kranji punters could have a friend

– Today’s eight-race Kranji card is obviously a reality check ‘class-wise’ but some interesting races will keep punters occupied including a Restricted Maiden in Race 2, with 10 horses making their race debuts.

Thankfully, horses in Singapore are required to run in at least one official trial before starting and five of those newcomers showed enough to think they can play a big part in this finish.

MY FRIENDS trialed under a very hard hold - that’s always a good sign - and gets the favours for Barend Vorster from gate one while OUR SHOWCASE gets Michael Rodd and gate two off the back of a nice trial and may start favourite.

Add the two-year-old ROYAL PAVILION who gets 7.5kg relief at the WFA scale - and a couple of handy raced horses who look ready to win - and the race looks a beauty and a good form line for the future.
