3 STEPS TO BECOMING A HIGH PERFORMANCE MACHINE

-

EXERCISE

One of things you might be feeling as you get older is the fear of dying, and more aches and pains. The easiest way to combat that feeling is to feel like a million bucks. And that starts by dedicating time to something that is actually directly contributing to your quality and longevity of life. And that, my friends, is moderate to high intensity exercise. Exercise also helps get rid of your stress hormones built up over the hectic day you have. If you are not exercising, those chemicals stay in your body for longer periods, and the exposure to that stress for years can lead to more chronic problems and complications.

EAT FOR PURPOSE

I know this one is hard especially when watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives late at night because you just want to try everything and anything. It is possible to still try and experience food but you need to try and see food as a fuel for your body first and foremost. Every bite you eat must have a purpose other than just taste. For example, I know I should have a protein with every meal but I also know that I need to have quality carbs and bread is not one of them. So if you find yourself in a restaurant ordering a world-famous burger, eat the meat but leave the bread and fries. If you want your body to perform at its peak then you need to feed it with quality fuels. The more poor quality fuel you give it, the more your engine (body) is going to start showing you signs that it is not happy. These can come in forms of heartburn, feeling bloated, headaches and upset stomach to name a few.

KEEP MENTALLY SHARP

This topic we can discuss further in another article but far too often we push mental health aside or brush it off. Physical health is just as important as mental health, yet can I ask what you are doing to improve your mental health, mental strength and emotional intelligence? Top leaders keep refining their skills by learning something new each day. Take up that new hobby you have been dreaming of doing. Invest in online audio books that can teach you a new skill, or perhaps log onto YouTube and learn to be a musician like the great South African artist Jeremy Loops did. If you love your phone then download a scientific brain training game called Lumosity which has some seriously fun and addictive games you can play which will help build mental speed, memory, attention, problem solving abilities and flexibility. Last but not least, invest in a Playstation or Xbox. Yes, you heard me correctly. But you need to purchase the right games like Super Mario 3D which linked to research has proven to increase grey matter over a period of a few months. Think of grey matter as insulation around your network cable; the better the insulation, the faster and more responsibly signals travel to and from the brain. Keeping your brain sharp will also help in fighting Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
