BESTSELLER: PASSENGER CAR OF 2017 GETS EVEN BETTER

The popular passenger car gets an upsize with hatch body.

The 2017 best-selling passenger car in South Africa, Polo Vivo, has been expanded with the addition of the sizedup derivative, the Maxx. In 2017 Polo Vivo, which is manufactur­ed at the Volkswagen South Africa’s plant in Uitenhage, sold over 22 000 units.

In 2018, the Polo Vivo has already sold over 11 000 units since launch of the second-generation model in February.

Polo Vivo Maxx is only offered in the hatch body version and boasts a number of exterior and interior features.

The exterior features include: 15mm raised suspension, 17inch ‘Canyon’ alloy wheels, silver coloured exterior mirrors, Maxx lettering on the tailgate and sides, sporty single-pipe exhaust system with a chrome trim, and aluminium roof rails.

In the interior, Polo Vivo Maxx has sport pedal clusters, a centre console in coloured trim, onboard computer, front electric windows, a manual air-conditione­r, a three-spoke leather multi-function steering wheel with aluminium insert, a colour touch radio with SD/USB/Bluetooth/ App Connect and six speakers, as well as loose lay carpets mats.

In terms of the safety features,

the Polo Vivo Maxx comes standard with driver and front passenger airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitor, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, front fog lights as well

as an immobilise­r, interior ultrasonic alarm with motion sensor and central locking.

Polo Vivo Maxx is powered by a 1.6 77kW engine that is mated to a five-speed manual transmissi­on.
