Sali in big demand

-

Former Chippa United midfielder Buyani Sali is weighing up his options on where he will play next season. According to a source, Sali has attracted a lot of interest from clubs in the National First Division as well as in the PSL, with two teams in Johannesburg keen to have him for next season. “It’s good to see that clubs are interested in him, we were not really sure where he would end up after leaving Chippa,” said a source close to the player. “It’s all about making the right decision now, he wants a club that will pay him well and where he will have game time. He struggled with injuries last season, but now he is fit and ready. There are two teams who want to sign him, but he is more concerned about game time and of course the salary. He will make a decision soon.” Baroka checking Gumede out

Baroka FC are assessing former Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits defender Siboniso Gumede (above) as they look to find replacements for the defenders they released at the end of last season. “He is at Baroka and said it has been going well so far. I heard Doctor (Khumalo) likes him because of his commitment but has given the new coach full control on whether or not to sign him,” said a source. Gumede spent the past season at an SAB League side back home in Empangeni after he opted against renewing his contract with Dikwena. Baroka last week confirmed Zambian Wedson Nyirenda as their new head coach.

Following the resignation of Serb coach Veselin Jelusic from Bloemfontein Celtic, Lehlohonolo Seema (above) could finally get his chance to take over the Phunya Sele Sele hot seat, as he has served as Celtic’s assistant coach in recent seasons after he finally hung up his boots at the end of the 2009/ 2010 season. A source close to the former Orlando Pirates captain has said Celtic chairman Khumbulani Konco could be considering Seema, who made over a century of appearances in Celtic’s green and white strip. “The man has learnt from the coaches he has worked under at the club and the chairman has faith in him,” the source said.

Kaizer Chiefs have yet to name a new head coach but a couple of candidates have so far fallen by the wayside. Patrice Carteron (above) was made head coach of Al-Ahly in Egypt, while Township Rollers head coach Nikola Kavazovic appeared to reveal that he would not join Chiefs in a tweet over the weekend. “I feel a moral dutie (sic) to say BIG THANKS to all @KaizerChiefs fans who wrote me and wanted me there. I am shocked by number of people, didn’t expect that. Guess it was not rite (sic) moment but it will come for sure. Thank you very much once again & see you in future. God bless you all.”
