Gallops live on TellyTrack

-

The Vodacom Durban July gallops will take place at Greyville Racecourse at 7am tomorrow and will be screened live on TellyTrack.

The gallops, which are now a condition of entry for the country’s greatest horse race, provide the racing public a final chance to see all the runners in action.

Each gallop will be timed and televised on TellyTrack starting 7am. A panel discussion on the horses’ performances will take place after the gallops.

A traditional and very popular feature of the Vodacom Durban July build-up, the public are invited to enjoy the proceedings and the free coffee and sticky buns on offer at Greyville. Breakfast will also be available in the Durban View Room at R100 a head for those wishing to watch the gallops in comfort. Reservations are essential for the Durban View breakfast. His charge drew well and will jump from No 3 draw, but Lafferty probably surprised most people when he said at yesterday’s final field announcement” “I think he is the horse to beat.”

He added: “If you look at the two favourites, African Night Sky and Do It Again, they have both flopped when running in Grade 1s.”

However, he does have one serious worry. “I am only concerned about there being no pace. The only pacemaker looked to be the reserve runner, Crowd Pleaser.” draw No 13. “I would have preferred lower but it’s ok,” he said.

Asked whether the three-yearold by Trippi had improved with gelding, he replied: “He has certainly shown he has improved in his work at home, so we will see how he goes in his gallop on Thursday (tomorrow).

“I think he has as good a chance as Edict Of Nantes had last year.”

That’s quite a statement as Edict Of Nantes was already a two-time Grade 1 winner going into the Durban July. on the bench. Rather he’s on the bench than against me.” –
