Jaguares eye top position

-

This weekend’s rugby action could see the Jaguares replace the Lions at the top of the South African Super Rugby conference log if they beat the Bulls.

The Bulls have just one win in their last six Super Rugby matches and are on a three match losing streak.

The Jaguares on the other hand are on a hot streak of seven straight wins.

This clash at Loftus is Match 4 of the Rugby 5 pool and the Jaguares look like firm favourites.

The Sharks sniffed blood last week against the Lions at King’s Park and they will travel to Newlands with every intention of keeping their Super Rugby campaign alive.

Their Springbok contingent return rejuvenated from international battle and the same cannot be said of the Stormers.

The Sharks also take a decent record to the Cape having won against the Stormers in their last four matches.

The Sharks are predicted to take this one by 10 points.

The weekend pool kicks off with the clash between the Chiefs from New Zealand and the Australian Brumbies in Match 1.

The Chiefs’ win over the Highlanders in Suva would have emboldened them.

They can still catch the Hurricanes who have the second most log points in the competition, so have huge incentive to seek five log points against the Brumbies.

The Chiefs have won their last eight matches against Australian opposition.

They’ve lost just once in 13 games against teams from the other side of the Tasman.

Against the Brumbies they’ve won five of their last seven clashes.

The Chiefs should have too much fire power for the Brumbies and should win by eight in a highscoring match.
