Du Preez’s men ready to go for broke

It’s a fairly straightforward calculation to work out that the Sharks have to win both their remaining games, preferably with bonus points, in order to have any chance of making the Super Rugby play-offs.

With that in mind they will be chasing tries against the Stormers at Newlands, which is probably why coach Robert du Preez has promoted two of the players who did much to raise the intensity and pace off the bench last weekend to the starting line-up for tomorrow.

Scrumhalf Louis Schreuder gets to start at his old stomping ground, swapping with Cameron Wright, while Juan Schoeman, who was so effective in the scrums when he came on against the Lions, will be the starting loosehead, with Beast Mtawarira coming off the bench.

The other two changes to the starting line-up are based on availability, with Jean-Luc du Preez out with a sprained knee and Jacques Vermeulen now starting in the No 7 jersey, while wing Sbu Nkosi is fit again after his hamstring niggle and he replaces Makazole Mapimpi.

While Wright and Mtawarira revert to the bench, there are three other changes to the replacements, with tighthead prop John-Hubert Meyer, loose forward Wian Vosloo and wing Kobus van Wyk the new faces.

Tighthead prop Thomas du Toit will be playing in his 50th Super Rugby match.
