IWG dares businesses to out-give them for Mandela Day

-

Global flexible workspace pro- vider IWG plc – recognisable in South Africa as Regus and Spaces – is challenging local businesses to give a hand-up to the next generation of entrepreneurs, business leaders and founders, by donating a stationery pack and dropping it off at one of their 62 business centres countrywide on or before July 18.

This in partnership with the Nashua Children’s Foundation, a national charity caring for the needs of 75 charities including more than 6 000 children, tweens and teens.

The initiative launched countrywide last month, coincides with Mandela Day and the #ActionAgainstPoverty campaign.

IWG country manager, Southern and Eastern Africa, Joanne Bushell said: “If we are going to see the next generation of entrepreneurs succeed, they need the tools to help them further their education. Currently only 86% of children over 16 are enrolled in formal education and 13.8% of adults over 20 have less than a Grade 7 education.”

Barriers to learning include lack of finances for school fees, uniforms and learning materials, health problems and lack of transport.

“We are trying to tackle just one of these and look forward to partnering with Nashua LTD and support the fantastic work they are doing, in the future.” says Bushell.

The basic stationery items needed are glue, pencils, scissors, eraser and rulers. “It seems like such small items, but these will go a long way to providing easier access to learning for the children who receive them.”
