Speedy La Ferrari out of Tony Rivalland’s stable looks on target for a third career win on Sunday when clashing with six opponents in Race 4 and top event at Scottsville, a MR 96 Handicap over 1200m.

This son of Tiger Ridge was a promising third on debut at the Greyville Polytrack, and then taking on 15 rivals he was a smart maiden winner at Scottsville. Backed again next time he was a decisive winner on the Polytrack.

Then stepped up in class, the four-year-old held form well in his next two outings when a runnerup at Scottsville and on the Polytrack. His following run when seventh out of 16 can be overlooked as he was over-matched in the In Full Flight Handicap (Listed) at Scottsville. This the gelding proved in his subsequent outing when finishing a four-length second to Hashtag Strat (received 3kg) in a Pinnacle Stakes at the same venue.

Renewing rivalry and carrying 56.5kg this time, La Ferrari should turn the tables on Louis Goosentrained filly Hashtag Strat (64kg) who will be 10.5kg worse off this time.

Hashtag Strat had incurred a further penalty when a clear-cut winner in her subsequent outing in a Pinnacle Stakes (F&M) at Scottsville. She followed up with a creditable 2.4-length sixth in a Pinnacle Stakes on the Polytrack. Nevertheless, with top-flight Fayd’Herbe aboard, this five-time winner could be the one to chase La Ferrari home.

The pick of the others are Rock Of Africa and Gratuity.
