AmaZulu FC defender Sibusiso Mabiliso (above) will be in a familiar place when South Africa’s Amajita take on Malawi in the third-round first leg of the Under-20 Afcon qualifier match at Moruleng Stadium in North West tomorrow.

Mabiliso, 19, started his career at Platinum Stars juniors – a home team for him, having been born and bred in the North West before moving to KwaZulu-Natal to play for AmaZulu last year.

“We have home-ground advantage, which is good for us. We have to make sure we win the match so that we have advantage in the first leg. We have to go out there and give it our all and make sure that we do not lose in any of the two matches. We really want to qualify for the 2019 Under-20 Afcon tournament,” said Mabiliso.

“The good thing about going to this game is that we have been preparing well, having played Zambia and Buya Msuthu, and that has helped us to grow and understand each other as a team.”

The Usuthu defender has dreams of making a mark in the Premier Soccer League but says his main goal is to move overseas.

Qualifying for the Afcon tournament will be a step in achieving his dream because once they qualify, their mission will be to win the continental competition and make sure they qualify for the 2019 Fifa World Cup in Poland.

“Qualifying for the Afcon tournament is so important for all of us because it will open doors and the main objective is to ensure we go to the World Cup.”
