Ramsden fillies set to dominate the Champagne Stakes

Call To Account impressed when winning the listed Olympic Duel Stakes two months ago, and should add the Grade 3 Champagne Stakes over the same Kenilworth 1200m to her honour’s roll tomorrow.

This Captain Al filly had topclass juvenile form and has come back just as strongly following almost a year off the track.

She stayed on for second behind talented Brave Move after setting the pace when trying 1600m last time.

The feeling remains that speed is her game though, and putting the Joey Ramsden-trained runner back over a sprint trip should see her take a lot of beating.

Main danger is likely to come from stablemate Made In Hollywood.

She has a very similar profile, with excellent juvenile sprint form, followed by a year on the sidelines.

Both her comeback runs have been over further, but she also seems likely to thrive over the shorter trip and should give plenty of cheek.

Nordic Breeze won this race as a three-year–old a year ago, and put a spell of indifferent form behind her when quickening impressively to win a preparatory run over the course and distance a few weeks ago.

A repeat of that would make her a serious contender, and she can be expected to make a vigorous defence of her crown.

Grade 1-placed Goodtime Gal is the best performer in this race and has been rested since losing form during the Cape season.

She has won over course and distance, and racing fresh could surprise at what is likely to be longish odds.

Freedom Charter and Over Again are other potential sources of an upset if Call To Account fluffs her lines.

A good value bet is Prince Oracy in Race 5 over 1000m.

He got going too late last time, but with plenty of early speed in this race in the form of Al Wahed and Strikeitlikeamatch he can be expected to be closing fast late.
