TRANSFER COMPLETE: MADAGASCAN STAR WILL HAVE TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

It might take some time for his team-mates to get used to his long name but Kaizer Chiefs fans will hope new Madagascan signing Andriamirado Andrianarimanana will be the final piece to complete Giovanni Solinas’ puzzle.

The 27-year-old finally joined his team-mates at Naturena yesterday following the completion of his protracted transfer from Fosa Juniors. “I am very happy to be here. I have been following Kaizer Chiefs closely on Facebook during the last few weeks,” said Andrianarimanana of his move.

Dax – as the player is mostly refered to as, will – like his coach – have to hit the ground running if he is to be a success at Amakhosi who are desperate to curb their dry spell.

Solinas has meanwhile called for some time after guiding his side to a 1-1 draw at Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend. If the Italian is to win the hearts of Chiefs supporters, he needs to win at least one trophy this season. But he insisted he needs time to prepare his squad to be ready to challenge for the Absa Premiership and domestic cups.

“You need time to prepare the team but I want to run fast because I know the fans want trophies. We will work harder to win the trophy but we need time to prepare the squad. Juventus are a big club but sometimes they have gone two or three years without a trophy. They rejuvenate the squad and go on to win the league several times in a row,” said the former Free State Stars coach.

“It is a process with the technical staff and the players and some teams learn quickly, but some need more time. To win a trophy you need good preparation and to work harder because you can’t win trophies because you have a magic wand. It is all about hard work,” he added.

Chiefs host Gavin Hunt’s Bid- vest Wits tonight at the FNB Stadium and will be looking to go one better from their 1-1 draw away to Masandawana over the weekend.

“It is a short time but the approach for the next game is simple. We needed to recover energy – not only physical energy but the mentality as well,” said Solinas.
