Tembo says it is getting better

SuperSport United might not have started the 2018/2019 season well, but coach Kaitano Tembo is content with the progression his side have made in their last three games.

Matsatsantsa began the campaign with a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Cape Town City in an Absa Premiership match before bouncing back with wins against AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinal of the MTN8.

After the latest results, Tembo won’t get carried away, especially with a busy schedule which saw them play three games in seven days. He says it will be vital to manage players and take everything step by step.

“I think the most important thing is to take it game by game, we are not getting ahead of ourselves,” said the SuperSport coach.

“Aubrey Modiba was on the bench on Wednesday and James Keene and Fagrie Lakay came off the bench. Our main concern is to try and make sure we manage the team properly and we don’t get serious injuries.”

Furthermore, Tembo has predicted a great future for new signing Ghampani Lungu, who is a striker but made his full debut for the team playing at rightback against Pirates in the absence of Grant Kekana.

“He is well grounded and he will improve, especially when he plays in his natural position. He will score goals.”

The Pretoria side face Bidvest Wits in a league clash at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.
