Actual SA cases in local crime-fighting drama

-

In new, local drama, The Docket, the Ravens are an elite unit fighting crime in the spotlight of the media.

They have to win back the trust of the South African public and gain each other’s trust.

The unit investigates high-profile crimes in the public eye and their squad members have been chosen for their outstanding investigation skills.

But their relations with the media are somewhat more problematic as Colonel Marlon van Wyk is just not the most diplomatic of people.

Enter detective Ntsiki Motshe, who has a talent for dealing with the media’s many questions.

Together they solve crimes and relations between the public and the police begin to warm up.

Each episode is inspired by real criminal cases, mostly ones solved by the South African Police Services (Saps).

The personal and professional lives of the squad members are interwoven into the process of criminal investigations.

The SA Police Service is one of the few workplaces where people from literally all walks of life are flung together and expected to work in cooperation.

And very often they have to do it in difficult and dangerous circumstances.

What they are doing is important to everyone and that they are winning this battle on the streets provides hope and inspiration to everyone.

The Docket debuts on SABC 3 on August 22 at 9.30pm.

Seputla Sebogodi – Brigadier Funani Twala

Ashish Gangapersad – Detective Terry Jahib

Brendon Engelbrecht – Detective Neil Hall

The Docket is on SABC 3 every Wednesday.
