CELTIC CLASH: PIRATES MUST GET THEIR SEASON GOING

Nyatama smarting after Wits wrecked birthday boy’s big day.

Musa Nyatama’s return into the Orlando Pirates starting line-up after being dropped for the MTN8 game against SuperSport United wasn’t influential enough to help Pirates get a win over Bidvest Wits in a league clash on Wednesday at the Orlando Stadium.

To make matters worse, the midfielder was celebrating his 31st birthday on the day, but it wasn’t exactly a memorable one as the Buccaneers were beaten 1-0 by the Clever Boys.

The Benoni-born player, however, remains hopeful that Bucs will be a force to be reckoned with as time goes by and he is eager to see the team get back to winning ways when they visit his previous club Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium tomorrow.

“It was really good to be back into the team but sad to be on the losing side. You can have ball possession, but not winning a match is something really hard to swallow.

“We still need to trust our process, keep going, working hard and I am sure we can get something in Bloemfontein,” said Nyatama.

“The only thing we have to do is to score a goal, that’s the only thing we need to work on, we are doing well in keeping possession. We know it is going to be tough against Celtic, but as I said before, we need to soldier on and make sure we score goals.”

Nyatama is taking consolation in the fact that it is still too early in the league season to press panic buttons despite having only won one of their three league games so far – made up of a draw and a defeat – and he admits they are under pressure to get the points.

“It’s one of those games whereby we need to bounce back quickly. We know the pressure is on us now, but the league is a marathon, it’s a long race. We know that last season we didn’t start well, so we are looking to change that this season.”
