Spring is in the air and it can be celebrated at Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers this coming weekend with a dedicated two-day auction at the warehouse in Selby.

On Saturday, the auction kicks off at 9am.

Over 400 lots of furniture, a great selection of silver, beautiful ceramics (Meissen and Doulton), vintage comics, carpets and more will keep collectors excited.

Of special note is a selection of choice Grotto furniture, a Vintage Louis Vuitton wardrobe Steam trunk from the 1920/30s, a selection of Africana furniture from one of the largest collections in South Africa and the largest collections of music boxes, gramophones, phonographs and related cabinetry and collectables ever to have been presented in a single auction session.

Of special mention, an incredibly rare example of a Paillard gramophone that is driven by a Stirling hot air engine.

The vast majority is in excellent working order and produces quality tunes from times gone by. The art session starts at 2pm. An eclectic selection of traditional and contemporary art by the likes of Adriaan Boshoff, Portchie, Christiaan Nice, Wessel Marais, Maud Sumner, JH Pierneef, Don Madge, Conrad Theys and Hanneke Benade, to name a few, goes under the hammer.

“Treasure hunt Sunday” kicks off at 9am with a trove of items that will keep auction goers busy for hours with so much to choose from and keep collectors enthralled.

The stand-alone jewellery and watch session begins at 2pm with over 300 glittering lots, including a magnificent 3ct brilliant cut diamond, colour F, VVS2.
