Win or bust for Solinas

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas (above) knows playing draws is unacceptable at Amakhosi and wants to see his side start winning games as soon as possible.

He will hope the change in fortunes starts tomorrow afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium where Chiefs face SuperSport United in an MTN8 semifinal, first-leg. Wafa Wafa did provide Chiefs with their only win this season so far when they beat Free State Stars 3-0 in the quarterfinals. In the league, however, Amakhosi have not won in four attempts, drawing three and losing once.

“We are Kaizer Chiefs and a draw is not good enough,” said Solinas. “Maybe at other clubs if you draw away it is okay. Here we are only happy when we win. We put effort to try and win the games. We play to win. I am confident that we can do it,” added Solinas,.

Having drawn against Baroka and Maritzburg United recently, Solinas said there is no comparison between those games and tomorrow’s MTN8 clash.

“You cannot compare the games against Baroka and Maritzburg to that against SuperSport. It is a different game. They have a good coach and the strategy they used in their games is very good. It is going to be a difficult game,” said Solinas.

The Italian mentor has previously complained of the tight fixture schedule saying it was designed for robots and not humans. This week, he had changed his tune a little, but also couldn’t resist another small hint at dissatisfaction.

“I don’t want to complain about us playing many games. It is tough for a human being to play every two to three days. We will play, it is not a problem. But you need to understand that the players are human and it is not possible for them to play like that,” he said.
