If you’re not in close proximity to a horse on September 15 you’re missing out. Nedbank International Polo will, for the first time, be hosted on a Saturday (so no work the next day) at Inanda Polo Club.

Sipping cocktails with Sandton’s skyscrapers for a background is an ideal way to spend a spring afternoon – but let’s be honest, you also have to look the part.

What makes polo so appealing is that it’s not the same pressure pot as a national horse race. It’s a more laid-back sporting event – where fashion plays a role but is not the be-all and end-all of being there.

The International Polo event is a prime opportunity for guests to experience a game of high intensity, sophistication and effortless charm while learning more about the sport through a great experience on the social scene.

Enthusiasts will witness some of the most skilful polo players in a highly anticipated international polo match.

Team South Africa will get the ball rolling against threetime winner, Australia, who have played against South Africa since 1975.

The day promises a hotly contested sporting rivalry and a fast-paced and energetic junior exhibition match is also expected to keep spectators unreservedly elated.

The SA team has been announced, with Tysen O’Sullivan (two-goal handicap), Murray Spark (three-goal handicap), James Kane Berman (four-goal handicap) and Tom de Bruin (captain; seven-goal handicap) with Craig James (three-goal handicap) as reserve.

Just as an important as your ticket is your look and here are some staples you probably already have in your closet to whip out for a glamorous event.
