TV personality Ngcobo gives Mzansi a closer look at its icons.

With 10 years’ experience in the media space as both an actress and presenter in some of South Africa’s famous TV productions, the bubbly and gifted Zama Ngcobo is now host of a new docu-reality series, Leading Citizens, on SABC 3.

The 35-year-old’s résumé shows that she previously performed key TV roles as executive producer and presenter and has also tried her hand in radio.

Leading Citizens, which premieres on Monday (Heritage Day), will tackle stimulating topics with some of the country’s prominent figures, giving viewers a closer look into their lives.

The programme will profile personalities whose work lives are rooted and established, and have flourished in their fields; small business, corporate, media, sport and many others.

Fearless to enter new territories, Leading Citizens highlights South Africans’ profound impact and contribution to society.

She said: “They are risk-takers, consistent, champions of job creation and pioneers of a new dawn in their industries.

“They know South African business better than anyone else.

“They are products of the South African environment; they do business in this environment and they succeed in this environment,” said Ngcobo.

Through the programme, she will share the highlights and lowlights of people’s journey to success and also inspiring viewers.

During one episode, Ngcobo meets two of the country’s well-known and respected icons to get into the DNA of what made them the successes they are today.

She spends time in thought-provoking conversations with each personality, extracting the hard truths and the nuggets of wisdom.

Viewers, in turn, get a feel of how the person’s character was built, where their dreams were born, and where the magic of their work was created. Don’t miss Leading Citizens every Monday at 8.30pm on SABC 3.
