Mhlongo may be axed

-

A source in the National First Division has told Phakaaathi that TS Sporting coach Benson Mhlongo (below)) might be shown the exit door at the club. According to the source, Mhlongo has found life quite difficult in the NFD and his struggling to keep up with the standards of the league and the club. “It is always hard for people who come from top clubs to adjust to the conditions in the NFD – both players and coaches. Sporting are a young team and there is not much financial support at the club, so Mhlongo questions a lot of staff and he demands certain things that the club can’t afford. This has result- ed in the club’s chairman getting tired of him. I am not sure what is going to happen, but I hear he might be asked to leave,” said the source.

Khuzwayo chasing No 1 jersey

Brilliant Khuzwayo (above) is ready to fight to be Orlando Pirates‘ first-choice goalkeeper, having recovered from an ankle injury which has seen him out of action since he was signed at the beginning of the season, a source has revealed. It is believed that even though he has made significant progress with his injury, the club is not in a rush to play him but the goalkeeper is raring to go nevertheless. “He wants to play so badly, you can tell when he is watching from the stands during match days. But he is okay now, he should be back anytime. I think the club just don’t want to rush him,” said the source.

Nzimande now out in the cold

Former AmaZulu and Polokwane City striker Siphesihle Nzimande (above) is struggling to make ends meet after he was ditched by Jomo Cosmos at the end of last season. Nzimande has been club-less ever since and a source said he was now desperate for income and is trying to make a comeback. “He is lamenting the chances he was given and which he took for granted. His friends have all deserted him. He has been lucky before in terms of finding clubs because he never went for more than two months without one but now he is feeling the pinch,” said the source.

‘We are lucky to have Kapinga’

Black Leopards coach Joel Masutha (above) says the University of Pretoria and SuperSport United lost out on a gem in striker Lesedi Kapinga. The forward was rejected by Matsantsantsa and AmaTuks when he went for trials in recent seasons. He then went on to play for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last season, where Masutha was general manager. “He is a great player, with so much skill and talent and we are lucky to have him. I knew him when I was at TTM as their general manager. We called him and gave him a contract and he has played well,” said Masutha.
