Legalising dagga can stimulate the economy

-

There are many by-products that can generate income, writes Eddie Joubert from Parktown.

To all you ignoramuses over marijuana, legalising weed is not going to make people smoke more. It has always been freely available. It will take it out of the hands of criminals and will stimulate the economy.

The oil companies paid governments to keep it illegal so that they could push their by-products – plastic, nylon, etc.

Look at the damage to our environment and oceans. They even sponsor drug companies.

Alcohol is far more destructive than marijuana and people who say that their relatives got addictive and fell apart, there is a good chance that they mixed nyaope or some drug with their joints.

If you smoke all day, you will be a goofball.

If you drink all day long, the same applies.

South Africa needs jobs and we need to stimulate the economy. I cannot think of a quicker way to do this than allow people to grow the plant.

Never mind the multiple uses of hemp, which can replace plastic and is biodegradable!

We may even be able to use the oil for combustion engines. This is cleaner burning than fossil fuel.

It’s time the big countries of the world stop telling South Africa what we can and can’t legalise.
