THIS MOZAMBICAN IS HITTING HEADLINES IN THE PSL

Williams.

“We were willing to die out there to come out with this trophy,” Edmilson told reporters, adding he was not concerned by the number of chances his side wasted in the game.

“I think it’s part of the game, we’ll miss and make mistakes.

“But when we went out for the second half, we discussed it. We told ourselves to keep pushing and keep believing it’s possible."

Edmilson has been a solid performer for City since he joined the club in January 2017, though he faces heavy competition for the left-back berth from Ebrahim Seedat.

Both are strong options for coach Benni McCarthy and he tends to rotate them.

But Edmilson never disappoints when given a run, having now featured in 38 domestic matches for the club.

He admits it was tough to adjust to the pace of the PSL after arriving from top Mozambican side Ferroviário de Maputo, but is pleased with his progress.

“It’s not easy being a defender but you must make sure that you keep your head on the ground. Every time I win a battle I get confident, it’s how it is,” he said.

He should certainly have confidence for two tough forthcoming battles for City - tonight’s home clash with BidVest Wits and Friday’s away trip to Maritzburg United, though as has been usual this season he is likely to be replaced by Seedat in one of those.
