Get set for Pitso versus Gavin

-

between two coaches admired by their peers for their methodical preparation and innovative thinking.

Hunt will have a plan to steal some points away from home, Mosimane will have a strategy to ensure Sundowns win.

The Pretoria club are defending champions while Wits took the league title the campaign before and both look strong contenders for this season’s crown, even if it is still early days.

“They have the best squad in the league, player for player,” said Hunt this week and few will quibble with that statement.

But Wits look a sharper side this season and were full of running and determination on Tuesday when they won away at Cape Town City. It kept up their unbeaten run away from home in this new campaign - a statistic they will want to keep intact in Sunday’s clash.

Sundowns will also be relatively fresh. Their elimination from the African Champions League was disappointing but not ill-timed, giving them a chance to focus on domestic matters until the end of next month when their next continental campaign begins. Sundowns will again be participating in the Champions League.

If they are to build up some momentum domestically then it is teams like Wits that they need to get the better of.

Many TAB soccer punters will be looking at a home win, but they need to be wary that a wily coach like Hunt might yet have something up his sleeve to upset the odds.
