Ferreira vows to get it right

When Uthongathi lost their first match this season, beaten 1-0 by Royal Eagles last weekend, coach Johnny Ferreira promised that his side would come back stronger. He said the defeat may have been a blessing in disguise as it reminded his players that they had not won anything yet.

“The defeat brought us back to earth and reminded us we are not invincible. We need to put the game to bed and set new goals going forward. We now focus on preparing for the next game. We will come back stronger next week,” said Ferreira. And that time has come as Ferreira will be hoping for a win when they host TS Sporting at Princess Magogo Stadium at 3pm.

Ferreira said he would work on his team’s mentality as he wants them to start with a clean slate in each game and was not worried about previous results – whether they were positive or negative.

But in Benson Mhlongo’s team they come up against a side who have been on the rise in recent weeks and will look to get the better of the Cane Cutters while they are down. In the past three games, Abantu Bemthetho have won two and drawn one which took them up to third in the standings with 11 points off six matches.

A win today could see them top the table depending on how leaders Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila do against University of Pretoria at Tuks Stadium, also this afternoon.

Maccabi FC will meanwhile have home comforts when they return to Dobsonville Stadium where they host struggling Ubuntu Cape Town tomorrow at 3pm. Mokete Tsotetsi’s side have been travelling for the past two weeks and they lost to Ajax Cape Town and earned a draw at the University of Pretoria.
