Just Ask Me looks the answer at Flamingo Park

Though stepping up in class, Corrie Lensley-trained Just Ask Me could be up to the task at Flamingo Park today when teamed up with Muzi Yeni in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m.

Since joining Lensley’s stable and rested for three months, this former KwaZulu-Natal sevenyear-old was unplaced in his first two runs at Flamingo Park.

However, the seasoned campaigner made improvement next time – finishing a promising 2.75-length fifth in a 1000m Pinnacle Stakes. Then, upped to 1400m and ridden by Yeni, the gelding posted a resounding 6.75-length win in a MR 84 Handicap.

With confidence gained from that run, the gelding is on target for his eighth career win.

But stiff rivalry can be expected from nine-time winner Seattle Sunset (Jarryd Penny) out of Cliffie Miller’s yard. Penny was aboard the gelding five runs back when a clear-cut winner in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1800m. Then, contesting Pinnacle contests, the seven-year-old confirmed he is fit with a decisive win over 1800m and a creditable third over 2000m.

Also to be considered is another Cliffie Miller-trained runner, Timkat (Collen Storey). This fouryear-old has come to light since teamed up with Storey – winning four times and placing second twice. The gelding’s last run was a gutsy victory in a 1300m Pinnacle Stakes.

The pick of the others are Icarus Flight, Red Special and Dodgy Itie.

Sarel von Willingh Smit’s Secret Island has held form well with Francois Herholdt aboard in four runs this season and should exit the maiden ranks in Race 1.
