Communist Party exposed state capture

It is clear the SACP has nothing to hide and is not defending anyone, writes Tom Mhlanga.

The recent revelation by City Press about the SA Communist Party (SACP) having received or benefitted from the VBS looting spree is a clear sign that the looters are very busy.

Their main aim is to tarnish the image of the SACP.

Let us remember that it was the very same SACP who exposed what is now called state capture.

It was this organisation – through their Red October campaigns – who vowed to root out corruption, particularly in relation to corporate capture of the state, its institutions and senior public figures.

In response to this, the looters (like they always do) are fighting back with everything they have. They don’t want to go down without a fight and this includes manufacturing lies that the SACP got money from VBS for its 14th national congress.

If this was true, why don’t they reveal themselves and the socalled senior executive leaders.

This is a very lame strategy that is very questionable and only those who hate the SACP take this seriously.

It is clear the party has nothing to hide and is not defending anybody involved. That’s the reason why the provincial secretary in Limpopo was suspended, even though he didn’t benefit personally as per the report.

This is contrary to what the EFF has done, calling a press conference to shield its leaders and diverting the whole issue to Minister Pravin Gordhan.

I encourage the SACP to clamp down hard on corruption. In this they will need our support as the public to make sure that corrupt individuals are held to account, whether they are in public office or private institutions.
