Napoli can narrow the gap to Juventus at the top of Serie A to eight points this evening with a win at Atalanta, though Juve’s pedigree suggests Carlo Ancelotti’s side are already only in a battle for second place.

Ancelotti has done well since taking the reins from Maurizio Sarri at the start of this season, with Napoli winning nine of 13 league games thus far, and still in with a chance of making the Uefa Champions League knockout rounds, with one game to go in a tough group also featuring PSG and Liverpool.

Dries Mertens scored twice in the midweek Champions League win over FC Crevna Zveda, to hit 10 goals already for the season, continuing the Belgian’s fine form for Napoli.

Napoli face a tricky test at Atalanta, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in decent form of late, winning four of their last five league games, and racking up 16 goals in the process.
