Team of the Week

-

Owen da Gama guided his Highlands Park to yet another impressive performance in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, causing an upset as he beat leaders Bidvest Wits 2-1 in Tembisa, much to the delight of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns. If you ask Da Gama, he will most likely tell you he is not concerned about what is going on at the top, instead, he is fighting to secure a top eight finish for his side, but he is doing well and is Phakaaathi’s Coach of the Week. However, Lindokuhle Mbatha is the only Highlands Park player in this week’s team, playing on the right wing. Also starring in midfield is Bafana Bafana star Teboho Mokoena. His marvellous goal paired with an assist gets him the nod in the centre of the park. Mokoena dispatched a gorgeous strike from outside the box to win SuperSport United all three points against Golden Arrows in a 3-2 thriller. Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana plays alongside him following his Man-of-theMatch performance against Black Leopards. Also in midfield is Maritzburg United’s Fortune Makaringe. The 25-year-old provided two assists to help the Team of Choice sink Polokwane City 3-1. In the strike force, the duo of Thabiso Kutumela and Tshegofasto Mabaso both bagged braces, while goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha was the hero in a hard-fought 1-0 win for AmaZulu over Cape Town City.
