Most influential young SA finalists fail to impress
Public relations agency Avance Media, in partnership with 1000 African Voices and VIPI State (Avenva), announced the finalists for the third edition of the most influential young South Africans list on Tuesday.
However, some of those on the list were rejected by the same people they apparently influenced last year and they took to social media to voice their disappointment.
Avance Media managing director Prince Akpah said the young people on the list had made “remarkable contributions” in their fields and had an impact on young people in South Africa and other countries.
The accolade was previously won by comedian and TV host Trevor Noah in 2016 and Economic Freedom Fighters spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi in 2017.
Voting for the 2018 list has began on the agency’s website to determine the winner in each category and the overall winner, but some nominees have been questioned.
The nominees include actress Khanyi Mbau, pictured, TV host Pabi Moloi, radio host Lasizwe Dambuza, Khanya Mkangisa and musicians AKA and Cassper Nyovest.
Twitter user @Makweetee asked: “In what part are they influencing, in which SA? Where are serious people like @sylvesterchauke @NomzamoMbatha @ khayadlanga @bonang_m @tumisole people who always push inspiration and education who wants to see a better South Africa! ”
@Dirtydeedsman said: “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone influenced by Khanyi Mbau ever. But Black coffee and Trevor Noah, every day.” – Citizen reporter
