Listen to Beethoven

The five-year-old Ontario gelding Beethoven has been running unplaced for a long time but put in a noteworthy performance last time out and could be worth a wager in Race 5 on the Fairview Polytrack today.

Beethoven was caught out of his ground on his local debut but was doing good work at the finish and was only 3.05 lengths behind Rock The Cot that day.

He tries the Polytrack for the first time and stable jockey Chase Maujean gets the ride.

Jockey Greg Cheyne and trainer Alan Greeff continue to stream in winners and hopefully that run of form continues as we will be relying on them for the bankers at this meeting.

Rock Aloe showed promise on debut when running on late, 1.35 lengths behind Humanitarian and looks a winner in waiting.

This Flower Alley gelding steps up to 1300m in Race 3 and tries the surface for the first time but could be better than his rivals who are battling to win.

Cheyne was seen to good effect when winning on Ontenderhooks last time out and she seems to have really taken to the Polytrack.

She faces a tougher field in the Walmer Handicap (Non-BlackType) but is in receipt of 6.5kg from stable companion and biggest danger Meryl and that may be the difference between them at the finish.

Some decent fillies and mares clash in Race 2 and it should be a fight out between the three Yvette Bremner-trained runners and two from Alan Greeff's yard – Vivir and Outlandos D’Amour – but in this case it seems the Bremner runners could come out tops.

Princess Rebel and Mary O’ Reilly both know how to win and although they will be prepping for some bigger races later on this year they can fight out the finish.
