El Dorado Classic could have an Incredible ending

- Larry Foley

– A cracking weekend of racing beckons from Singapore and while the Group 1 Raffles Cup is the one to watch on Sunday, the El Dorado Classic today is a race not to be missed as we head towards the Gold Cup in November.

And while this Group 3 feature over 2000m may have been moved forward a month, the winner still gets an exemption into the Gold

Singapore

Cup field and the form line from this race has more than held up since its inception in 2012.

In fact Quechua and Bahana both backed up their El Dorado wins with Gold Cup victories in 2014 and 2016 respectively, while Sebring (2015), Secret Win (2017) and King Louis (2019) all ran credible races in the last Group 1 of the season.

Both Bahana and King Louis are heading down the same El Dorado path in 2019 and while Bahana has struggled of late, King Louis looks well in with 55kg and should run well on recent form with Willy Pike in the saddle.

But the horse to beat on recent form is I’m Incredible who will be looking at knocking in his fourth straight win on his way to Gold Cup glory.

This Australian-bred fiveyear-old has had only eight career starts but has progressed through the ranks with three straight wins - including at Group 3 level in his last start.

And his breeding suggests that this 2000m is no issue and I’m Incredible remains they one they have to beat again.

Best Bets: I’m Incredible Race 8, Win; Super Talent, Race 1, value and Etwas Neues Race 7, value.

Jackpot: Race 6: Field; Race 7: Field; Race 8: 5; Race 9: 1 and 5.
