Cash in a flash with Blitz Pick 6

-

Tomorrow’s BLITZ race meeting is arguably the highlight of the weekend as it comprises not only the feature races from Turffontein and Durbanville, but also three graded races from Newmarket in the UK.

And, as an added bonus, the BLITZ Pick 6 pool kicks off with a R100,000 carryover.

The first race of the BLITZ meeting is Race 1 from Newmarket, the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes for twoyear-old colts and geldings over 1600m. The total stakes on this race is R2.3 million.

The Andrew Balding-trained Kameko, with Oisin Murphy in the irons, looks unstoppable having recorded a win and a second place in his first two outings.

The Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes for two-yearold fillies is next up, where the 11 runners will compete for stakes of R5.4 million. This is the first leg of the BLITZ Pick 6.

Raffle Prize heads the 11-horse field and this Mark Johnston-trained filly heads into this 1200m race with strong claims having won two Group 2 contests, the Queen Mary and Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. Consider her a banker for the BLITZ Pick 6.

Next up is Race 6 from Turffontein, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 2000m with R95,000 up for grabs. This is a very open race and punters should go as wide as their budgets allow.

The fourth race of the BLITZ meeting comes from Newmarket – the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes for two-yearold colts with stakes of R5 million.

Earthlight, Mums Tipple and Siskin will all put their unbeaten records on the line.

The Andre Fabre-trained Earthlight has won each of his four starts to date - most recently striking at Group 1 level in the Prix Morny.

Mums Tipple is two from two for Richard Hannon, having followed up a debut victory in an Ascot maiden with an 11-length demolition job in a sales race at York last month.

Siskin provided his trainer Ger Lyons with a first Group 1 success in Ireland when claiming his fourth straight victory in the Phoenix Stakes.

These three should battle it out at the finish line.

Then it’s back to Turffontein for a R105,000 Graduation Plate over 1450m and a R100,000 FM 76 Handicap over 1200m.

The BLITZ meeting concludes with the R150,000 Settlers Trophy from Durbanville.

All this action takes place between 14:50 and 17:05 tomorrow.

All the local fields for tomorrow’s BLITZ meeting are in today’s Racing Express.
