Vintage fishing rods, reels, nets from collection of former Bok Gerrie Germishuys.

This weekend, Old Johannesbu­rg Warehouse Auctioneer­s host yet another memorable auction. With the proverbial “Spring cleaning” on everyone’s lips, the auction kicks off at 1pm today with a 300 lot “no reserve’ clearance session.

This session comprises everything from furniture, ceramics, glassware, art and more.

Tomorrow at 9am, the usual delightful selection of items comprising: fantastic Georgian furniture (bookcase and card table of special mention), very rare Transvaal Africana furniture, wonderful selection of ceramics and silver, Boer War pieces, rare coins and notes, enamel signs, vintage tools, books and more.

Of special mention here: a large selection of vintage fishing rods, reels and nets, including Hardy pieces.

A large selection of these come from the personal collection of former Springbok Gerrie Germishuys.

An eclectic selection of traditiona­l and contempora­ry art (120 lots) is also in this session.

Works by the likes of Frans Claerhout, JH Pierneef, Nelson Makamo, Mark Hipper, Pieter van der Westhuizen, MJ Lourens, Alexander Rose-Innes, Anton Kannemeyer to name a few, goes under the hammer.

On Sunday, “Treasure hunt Sunday” kicks off at 9am with a trove of items that will keep auction goers busy for hours with so much to choose from.

The stand-alone jewellery and watch session begins at 1pm with a magnitude of glittering lots. Many beautiful Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Antique and Modern pieces form this line up. Of special mention: an exquisite Art Deco bracelet set with about5 carats of diamonds.

For the watch collectors: Breitling, Raymond Weil, Michele Herbelin, Tag Heuer, Cartier, Panerai and Tissot will encourage furious bidding.

Also in this session are some vintage designer bags and sunglasses by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Gucci.
