Unlikely bankers headline TAB Any 15

With a R500,000 carryover, TAB’s new Soccer Any 15 pool is expected to reach a cool R1.2-million on Saturday.

And with 30 matches from all over the globe to choose from, clever soccer punters could find themselves counting cash come Sunday morning. Although many of the matches are humdingers that could go either way, there are a few bankers.

First of these is Bristol Rovers. They host MK Dons in the English Football League One. This is Match 2 of the Soccer Any 15 pool.

Bristol are unbeaten in their last five league matches, while MK Dons, who were promoted to League One this season, have suffered four league defeats on the trot, with three of these coming on their home ground.

It’s very difficult to see them bouncing back on the road.

The Gas, as Bristol Rovers are affectionately called by their fans, come off a week break.

They had an impressive September as they went unbeaten and recorded victories over the likes of Lincoln City and Rotherham United.

Another team that should be on the winning side on Saturday is Port Vale. They travel to Macclesfield for their English Football League Two encounter.

It will be The Vale’s second trip in two weeks to Macclesfield having won there 3-2 in the Leasing.com Trophy last Tuesday.

Port Vale will be heading to Macclesfield with a strong contingent of fans as their 1 600 ticket allocation sold out within hours of the tickets going on sale.

Vale owner Carol Shanahan has praised supporters for their backing after more than 600 fans recently made the trip East London when they faced Leyton Orient.

The Vale crowd are usually very vocal and can make a massive difference to boost their team’s morale. This is Match 10 in the Soccer Any 15 pool. In Match 8 of the pool, Colchester United travel to Crawley Town.

Colchester shocked Premier League title hopefuls Spurs in the League Cup recently, winning 5-4 on penalties after a goalless first 90 minutes.

They were probably still a bit hung over a few days later when they drew against Macclesfield Town, but got back to winning ways, beating Stevenage 3-1 in their League Two encounter.

Crawley Town have recorded two consecutive League Two defeats, conceding three goals each against log leaders Forest Green and Walsall, who are two places below them on the log.

Colchester United should have no problem securing three log points on Saturday.
