Pinkerton will crack it

Justin Snaith-trained Pinkerton impressed when a clear second to what appears a rather classy type in Kilindini last time.

And the expensive Dynasty colt looks a five-star bet to leave the maiden ranks in Race 2 over 1400m at Kenilworth tomorrow. He is well in by 4.5kg on official ratings, meets an average bunch and there is no obvious improver like Kilindini to rain on his parade.

Indeed, the only potential threat could be Al’s My Daddy. Adam Marcus’ charge is a Captain Al colt who is a half-brother to 2016 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Just Sensual, and drawn at pole position will help him handle the turn on debut. Watch the betting.

Snaith and Richard Fourie also look set to team up profitably in Race 7. Ferrari Red was only outgunned late by Larentina after a five-month break and that one went on to finish a highly creditable fi fth in the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship at the weekend.

Larentina’s merit rating soared from 85 to 103 for that, meaning unexposed Ferrari Red is theoretically a full 9kg undervalued with a current mark of 83.

She should handle this FM 73 Handicap field comfortably over her preferred 1400m, even drawn widest of the eight acceptors.

Maravilloso and Howl both also have scope but are likely to be chasing shadows on this occasion.

Snaith also looks set to dominate Race 4, a FM 74 Handicap over 1200m, but this time Fourie may be on the ‘wrong’ one. He rides Fleeced. She won on debut the only previous time he was aboard and finished strongly last time.

She has obvious claims, but a slight preference would be for stablemate On The Scent, with the returning Bernard Fayd’Herbe up.

This Gimmethegreenlight fi lly produced a sustained finish to win second time out three weeks ago, and third-placed Duchess Of State has already franked the form. The pair look set to fight it out.
